A month ago we told that the Sheridan County YMCA was selected as a finalist for the Livestrong Community Impact Project and that residents could help them achieve the project by casting their vote online. The Lance Armstrong Foundation announced Monday that the Sheridan County YMCA is one of 90 sites across the U.S. that has been awarded the program due to the number of votes they received.

Program Director at the Sheridan County YMCA Elisabeth Cassiday explains that the Livestrong Community Impact Project will provide funds, training and resources for cancer survivors.

More than 450,000 votes were cast over a two-week period from March 7th through the 23rd. Finalists to receive funding were selected based on overall votes throughout their region, and across the country, with each of the eight regions awarded at least two grants.
