Sheridan County Hosting Riparian Areas Educational Workshop, Free Barbecue

Sheridan County will sponsor an outdoor workshop and barbecue Tuesday, September 27th in the South Park area to educate the public on the value of riparian areas.

County Planner Mark Reid gives an introduction to what a riparian area is.

He added that the workshop will offer a chance to learn a little about riparian areas and why they are important in terms of wildlife habitat and water quality.

Reid says there will also be a chance for those in attendance to express opinions about potential management options in those areas.

The event will have speakers from the Sheridan County Conservation District and the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.

There will be a booth with information about the Sheridan Scenic Character plan - the year-long project to develop tools to preserve scenic quality.

The workshop will begin with a learning session at 4 pm, followed by a time for response and to fill out surveys.

The barbecue and discussion will take place at 5pm.

And a programming note: Reid will be on Public Pulse Monday, September 26th with host Ron Richter to explain further about the workshop. You can listen on NewsTalk 930 KROE beginning at 9:10 am.
