The Sheridan County Historical Society announced that they've received a $13,450 grant from the Homer A. and Mildred S. Scott Foundation that will be matched by museum supporters, totaling $26,900.
Money will be used to better the SCHS education programs led by Nathan Doerr, Museum Director and Curator.
Also, the donation will allow the SCHS to hire a part-time employee to work on collaborating and furthering educational efforts through volunteers. Doerr says they will use a portion of the grant to hire Sarah Ligocki, a Sheridan-native who has worked for the past six years at the state museum in Cheyenne.
Doerr said that the Scott Foundation has supported the museum on an annual basis with grants toward their education program for about the last four or five years now.
