Sheridan County Commissioners adopted the Sheridan County Comprehensive Plan last December. County Planning Department efforts since that time have focused on implementing that plan. Rezoning several thousand acres near Dayton was one of the first large projects suggested by the plan. County Planner Mark Reid says the implementation won’t happen overnight.
Will the plan still be valid by the time all the recommendations have been completed?
As a tool, the Comprehensive Plan is also used in day-to-day policy decisions. Another project the County is working on is regulating development in groundwater contamination impact areas. The County recently placed a moratorium on subdivision requests in those areas until the new regulations are in place.
Reid updated the Commissioners on the implementation progress earlier this week.
