Sheridan County Commission Considers Amendment to Groundwater Protection Zoning Language

At Tuesday's Sheridan County Commission meeting, Commissioners considered and approved a resolution that would require a 5-acre minimum tract for new subdivisions in areas where groundwater protection is a concern. Specifically, this would look with a future eye toward cluster subdivisions which would enable smaller lots using enhanced septic technology.

The resolution had been tabled earlier in the year. County Planner Mark Reid comments.

With the passing of this resolution, the temporary freeze of subdivision of land is now rescinded. Subdivision projects are now allowed to continue if they meet the following criteria: An active subdivision application is on file with the County Public Works Department, or; Documentation is on file with Public Works indicating a landowner has pursued a subdivision application within the two years prior to lifting the freeze.
