In Monday's Sheridan County Circuit Court, two women made their Initial Appearances before Judge John Sampson.

On the first case, Johnie Garner, a former employee with United Parcel Service, was charged on five separate counts for incidents occurring between April and September, 2009.

Count 1 was for Delivery of a Controlled Substance for delivering Morphine to Samuel Burton. As a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance, the charge is a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than 10 years, a fine of not more than $10,000, or both.

Count 2 was for Delivery of a Controlled Substance for delivering Tylox to Samuel Burton. Count 3 was for Delivery of a Controlled Substance for delivering Hydrocodon to Samuel Burton. And Count 4 was for Delivery of a Controlled Substance for delvering Vicodin to Samuel Burton. As Schedule 4 Controlled Substances, counts 2, 3 and 4 are felonies punishable by imprisonment for not more than 2 years, a fine of not more than $2,500, or both.

And Count 5 was for Conspiracy to Commit Larceny. Court documents allege that Garner conspired with Randy Mortensen to commit a larceny by stealing prescription medications from boxes they handled as UPS employees, both inbound and outbound from various pharmacies in the City of Sheridan. Value of the stolen drugs was more than $1,000. The crime is a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than 10 years, a fine of not more than $10,000 or both.

Judge Sampson set a $50,000 cash bond and a Preliminary Hearing is scheduled for April 20th.

The second woman to go before the judge was Joanne Kelly Isom, referred to as Kelly, on one count of Felony Domestic Battery. Court documents allege that on April 10th of this year, Isom got into a fight with Fred Kinter, hitting him with a glass vase and wooden chair. She has a history of domestic violence; in fact, this is the fifth incident since 2004 -- the four prior taking place in Washington state. Because of the number of incidents within ten years, the charge is a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than five years, a fine of not more than $2,000, or both.

Judge Sampson set a cash bond on Isom of $5,000. Her Preliminary Hearing is also scheduled for April 20th.

Why I live in sheridan county is to have the community point fingers and convict a person before they go to court. How selfish people are here.If they see alot of cars at a residence it is a drug house well if they are so sure why don't they call the police on the matter and not point fingers the reason they won't is because if it is they don't want them coming after them what chicken poop we have in our community. Yes this crap does upset me but I always thought you we're innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Everyone makes mistakes but why should one person take the rap and the rest gets a slap on the hand. I guss money talks and it will keep you out jail.

I am in Aw right now at the lengths people go to get drugs. Is Samuel Burton being charged as well, I wonder. What a sad story. I know all 3 of these people. Hearing the news that Mortensen and Burton were involved breaks my heart for their families. I would have never thought those two would be involved in any sort of an act.
