The Sheridan County Commissioners Tuesday unanimously approved a 99-year lease with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department for Lake DeSmet water rights. Commissioner Bob Rolston says that the Commissioners have always been behind the proposal.
The lease with the G&F is far from being a done deal, as the Johnson County Commissioners have expressed concerns about the lease.
Terms of the lease state that the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission will pay the Lake DeSmet Counties Coalition a total of $2,971,900 between October of this year and October of 2016, with the first payment this October to be in the amount of $850,000. The lease agreement still needs to be approved by the Johnson County Commissioners and the Lake DeSmet Counties Coalition.
