Sheridan County's Commissioners considered two proposals brought forward from a subcommittee of the Lake DeSmet Couties Coalition Joint Powers Board, and accepted a possible solution. County Commissioner, Bob Rolston, provides some background on where the two proposals came from.
The Commissioners unanimously agreed on “Proposal 2,” which would essentially relieve one of the counties from management responsibilities.
The proposal accepted by the commissioners includes provisions for one county to sell its interest in Lake DeSmet, leaving only one county managing the lake. The consensus among the commissioners seemed to be they would attempt to convince Johnson County to buy Sheridan County's water rights and interests in Lake DeSmet.
