Sheridan College dedicated the newly constructed entrance to the facility as Veteran's Plaza this morning to mark the federal observance of Veteran's Day. College President and veteran himself, Dr. Paul Young, dedicated the site and witnessed as a contingent of veteran students raised the national, state, and prisoner of war flags over the campus for the first time.
The morning's keynote speaker was Col. Brian Nesvik, commander of the 115th Fires Brigade of the Wyoming National Guard. He addressed multi-generational audience to explain the importance of honoring our nation's warfighters.
The Veteran's Plaza Memorial in front of Sheridan College will be paved in the spring, and the public is invited to purchase engraved bricks to honor individuals who have served in the armed forces. For more information about contributing to the memorial, contact Brett Burtis, veterans services director for Sheridan College at 674-6446 ext. 2720.
