After much debate and several comments from the public, the Sheridan City Council approved subdividing lot 1 of the Cloud Peak Ranch 9th filing into two lots. The subdivision creates two tracts, one being 2.8 acres and the other 3.4 acres for the Summit Group's proposed multi-family housing projects. Although it passed on a
4-2 vote, Councilors Ryan Mulholland and Steve Brantz voted against the subdivision. Brantz says it wasn't necessarily the lot split that he was opposed to.
The Summit Group out of Missoula, Montana is proposing to build two low income apartment complexes just west of the Rockwell building in northwest Sheridan. One is a 48-unit multi-family apartment complex, while the other is a 42-unit senior housing complex. The lot needed to be split because the application for WCDA funding is for two separate projects.
