The director of the local animal shelter says rabies can be deadly, so a good precautionary measure is to have your dog vaccinated.

Director Debie Crawford of the Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter talked with me about the viral disease on our news talk show Public Pulse.

With that said, she welcomed all dog owners to come to Kendrick Park in Sheridan this week with their pet for reduced price rabies shots offered at $10. She asked that all dogs be on a leash or in carriers. The rabies clinic will be open there at the park from 8-1 through Saturday.

City dog licenses can also be purchased at the same time, she said, at $10 for neutered or spayed animals and $15 for the rest. She noted that all dogs within city limits must be licensed, or the owner faces a $45 fine.
