29-year-old Sheridan resident Shawn Osborne has been found Guilty of the 1st Degree Murder of Gerald Bloom.

After just over four hours of deliberations, the 12-person jury came back Thursday afternoon with a Guilty verdict in the 1st Degree Murder Trial of 29-year-old Sheridan resident Shawn Osborne. Osborne stood emotionless while District Court Clerk Nicki Arney read the verdict. 4th Judicial District Court Judge John Fenn ordered that a pre-sentence investigation be conducted, after which a sentencing date will be set. Fenn revoked Osborne's bond and remanded him back to the custody of the Sheridan County Detention Center, where he will await sentencing.

Osborne is guilty of killing 42-year-old Gerald Bloom during the early morning hours of January 15th, 2010 at a mobile home located at 1075 Bellevue Avenue in Sheridan. Both Osborne and Bloom were tenants of the trailer at the time of the murder, as were the owner of the trailer, Dennis David, and his girlfriend Dee Himes. Both David and Himes were key witnesses for the State in their case against Osborne.

how does everyone always get so far off subject

How does everyone on this site always get so far off subject? It always starts out with intelligent, respectful commentary, but then somehow it turns ugly. Let's all ask ourselves "what would Scooby Doo?" and "lighten up"!! Leave the hate mongering at the door please!

I wish I could answer your question

I wish I could answer your question. Scooby, I believe would eat another dog biscuit. I on the other hand, will simple apologize if I participated in hate mongering.

Some individual ask rhetorical questions. Suggesting that the really don't want the answers to such important questions.

May be this will help...

Commentaries: an explanatory treatise- usually used in plurals
Treatise: a systematic exposition or argument in writing including a methodical discussion of the facts and principals involved and conclusions reached.
Hate Monger: 1.)A person who uses political beliefs or passions of any kind as a platform to express their hatred for another individual.

Happy Thanksgiving all. I gotta move on to keep evolving.

I BELIEVE YOU MAY HAVE MISUNDERSTOOD HOLLOWAY. THE INDIVIDUAL COMMENTED ON THE STATUES IN WYOMING THAT FAIL TO PROTECT MINORS AND THE SADNESS OF THE WHOLE SITUATION AND SADNESS AND LOSS EACH INDIVIDUAL INVOLVED ARE EXPERIENCING. IF YOU WERE NOT IN ATTEN

Humm... Stay away, great

Humm... Stay away, great idea. However,I have already made that decision. Never stated Sheridan as a town was a failure (never even used the word). Failure as a community...well ever community retains individuals with questionable judgment and behaviors.

By the way "English Major", incomplete sentences are used to create emphasis...leaving it up to the reader to think without all the crap in between. You obviously found the commentary to be so long you were unable to keep thought on core message.(Now ,that was an attack on you)

The law in our country is not based on truth. Truth is a he said she said situation. Ask any attorney, they will tell you, their job is to provide the client with the best defense possible according to the law, loopholes and all. Luck has nothing to do with the outcome or truth. People that sit on a jury, judges that make rulings, and attorneys that are aggressive cat-brawling individuals building a case history and name for themselves that is where the luck hides.

You response was an attack on the commentator not the facts. You have just showed case in point about the mindset in Sheridan's community. You can decide what that mindset is. If I suggested what it is you would only feel attacked...which is not the intent. Besides, what ever is occurring in your community is clearly my opinion. Yeah I am a proud American. I live with the judicial system it is the only lawful way to deal with our society. I emphasize lawful.

Maybe you should misspell

Maybe you should misspell "lawful" for emphasis?

i lived in sheridan about 9 months and was totally digusted. the small town politics and good ole boy club was worse than anywhere i have ever lived. let me say the folks in Iraq were friendlier that the good people of sheridan. I mostly found liars, cheats, drunks and aduterers.
If you are not a local or someone with money you can forget getting a fair trialor anything else there.
These folks broke the law and unfortunately the muted intelligence of their community does not allow them to have fair access to the judicial system. i fail to see why anyone with the means to leave would remain there... and for the locals...yeah yeah i know i was the bad one so no one liked me.. i have heard it a thousand times.. so go back to your beer and save me the lecture

steve......

if i didnt drop in from time to time who would point out the obvious to you??????????????????????????

You still haven't explained

You still haven't explained why you continue to come back to this site, which represents a place you hated so much.

You takin' to me?

Not sure who you are addressing in regards to hating Sheridan. However, if you were posing the question to me, allow me to respond.
I found Sheridan to be a lovely town. The sculptures in downtown were absolutely fascinating. I became acquainted with positive and challenging individuals.
As to why I return to this sight.... for knowledge and understanding of the Human Spirit. Just as anyone else on this sight, if just one person reads the commentaries here and it makes them look at and reconsider their value system or programed beliefs then it is all worth it.

Sorry, that comment was

Sorry, that comment was directed to our resident nonresident troll, not to you.

Maybe your community ought

Maybe your community ought to take a look at its education system. It seems you aren't capable of forming complete thoughts or sentences. Did it ever occur to you that these people BROKE THE LAW? Just because they weren't lucky enough to have loopholes to get out of the consequences doesn't mean our community is a failure as a whole. If you don't like it, you can stay away.

ERRR huh

Wow three murder convictions in three months. It took your jury what 3 hours for Poitra, 2 hours for Sen and four for Osborne. Ya know I think just may be you all should be taking a closer look at you community.
Such as the Drug and Alcohol consumption to the lack of juvenile guidance and the care taken with mental health issues. Just an outsiders opinion.
Sometimes that is what it takes to wake up a community...do you think your community plans to dust these murders under the rug and move on to the next snowstorm? My goodness no wonder your DA goes unchallenged look at his conviction rate for murder. Three murder convictions in three months in less than a week each no less. (Satire just in case you don't get it)Just think about it... 36 people decided the lives of three people in 9 hours. I have no doubt that there was no other choice these jurors had, not in a town of 15,800 people. I have lived in small towns such as yours I know how the politics and dynamics work.
In Sen's trial two of the jurors couldn't even hear well the first two days (then only the judge asked the bailiff to give them equipment for hearing). At least four fell asleep off and on in Sen's trial. Lies exposed in the trial, violation of Miranda Rights by a detective, inflammatory evidence by the DA..no mistrial?
Osborne ..what was up with the picture of the slain mans father in the court room..no mistrial?
Poitra given psychotic medication shortly before the bizarre behavior displayed that night. Why was he not given proper medication to take with him when he left the hospital? Oh wait a minute the prescription for his medication should have done the trick. Why on earth was he released from the hospital if he was unstable enough, to have more medication when he got out.
Good luck Wyatt so far you only have had a appointed court attorney lie to you and convince you to plead guilty.
I am not an advocate for murder only justice as defined by the law of the Untied States Government. When states make up their own laws we revert back to separation between the states. My dear Lord...where is Lincoln now.

So are you saying that

So are you saying that murders don't happen in other communities? Seems to me that if we were going to sweep.these under the rug a plea deal would've been the easier path to take rather than a high profile jury trial. (High profile for sheridan) Murder is not a new crime; to sheridan or any other small community. If you are an outsider how do you know so many "details" about these cases? You obviously don't know enough to realize we don't even have a DA. Sheridan has a County Attorney. I would like to know how you think Vir Sen's rights were violated? When he invoked his right to remain silent the detectives let him be. Vir Sen is the one who decided to talk. What lies were exposed? You have all these accusations but no actual example that you point to. Also, Gerald Bloom's father passed away very recently. One of his final wishes was to live long enough to see justice served in his sons case. The family only wanted his presence to be with them during the trial. The issue was addressed and the Judge decided that the incident was not enough to warrant a mistrial. Another thing i must question of you is do you support these murderers? They all knew right from wrong. The victims in these cases deserved justice and i believe that three confessions in the Ernst case would explain why the jury didn't need much time to ponder the guilt of the defendants. I also believe that the evidence in the Bloom case was overwhelming. The defendant was proud of what he had done. And what inflammatory evidence are you referring to? If you knew how the justice system worked here you might've realized that the Attorneys have nothing to do with evidence collection. That comes from law enforcement. Then the cases are sent to the attorney and together the entities build a case. But together they are able to give the victims a voice and the families involved some sense of justice. I have seen no evidence of our community denying that some residents struggle with addiction or mental health problems. In fact there are new groups forming quite often specifically designed to focus on these isssues. But sometimes bad things happen. There is evil in this world. You have no right attacking the victims families or the people who worked very hard to make sure justice was served in accordance to the law.

Let me guess! A know it all

Let me guess! A know it all UW law student who heard rumors from her instructor!

Your post completely

Your post completely confused me. Are you saying these men did not have a fair trial? And if so, it boggles my mind. Maybe the evidence was so obvious it didnt take hours and hours to deliberate. Personally, I am feeling pretty good about the results. Why drag it out when the evidence points to the obvious?

Oh and our population is more then twice what you estimated it to be.

Try a new horizon

Not according to you signs posted as you enter town. Who said anything about fair or unfair? I stated facts that some have not looked at. Looking on the front and the back of the mirror reveals different images.
No evidence is obvious..remember he said she said, circumstance and individual perception is what makes us so human. Another case and point for my opinion. Don't look for hidden message. Just read the words and know their meaning.
