After just over four hours of deliberations, the 12-person jury came back Thursday afternoon with a Guilty verdict in the 1st Degree Murder Trial of 29-year-old Sheridan resident Shawn Osborne. Osborne stood emotionless while District Court Clerk Nicki Arney read the verdict. 4th Judicial District Court Judge John Fenn ordered that a pre-sentence investigation be conducted, after which a sentencing date will be set. Fenn revoked Osborne's bond and remanded him back to the custody of the Sheridan County Detention Center, where he will await sentencing.
Osborne is guilty of killing 42-year-old Gerald Bloom during the early morning hours of January 15th, 2010 at a mobile home located at 1075 Bellevue Avenue in Sheridan. Both Osborne and Bloom were tenants of the trailer at the time of the murder, as were the owner of the trailer, Dennis David, and his girlfriend Dee Himes. Both David and Himes were key witnesses for the State in their case against Osborne.
