With the fire danger at “Very High” in the Big Horn National Forest, as a result of the lack of significant moisture in recent weeks that is common in late summer months, Big Horn National Forest officials remind visitors to make sure campfires are put out completely.
BNF Fire Management Officer Jon Warder says they encountered a few during the Labor Day weekend.
It may seem simple, but just in case visitors are unsure how to completely extinguish a campfire, Warder explains a good strategy.
Also, with the late summer months comes increased black bear activity as the animals look to forage food for winter. Warder says a clean campsite can help avoid bear conflicts.
