Sergeant: Cruise Control Dangerous on Icy Roads

News Director Leslie Stratmoen interviewed a local police officer in Sheridan about winter driving safety, and filed the following report.

Yesterday's icy roads kept the Sheridan Police Department busy throughout the day responding to crash reports, but by late in the day, there were no reports of injury and the department did not have a complete tally.

But because of the dangerous road conditions winter poses, Police Sgt. Travis Koltiska took a minute to warn all drivers to take care on the road, by going slower than the posted speed limits when winter weather takes a turn for the worse.

And, he said, do not put your vehicle on cruise control when the roadways are icy. The move could be deadly.

Snow and ice remain in the forecast in some areas over the weekend. So, he says, take extra care on the road.
