Buffalo Senior Center Director AJ Mock approached the Johnson County Commissioners at their last meeting, asking for monetary help in the center's quest to replace their defective boilers in the city-owned building.
Mock did say he has already approached the city for help and that they had pledged to do so.
He was seeking $500 or whatever the commission felt they could contribute towards engineering costs associated with the boiler replacement.
The estimated cost of replacing the outdated boiler system in the building is about $150,000 according to Mock, who said the city is wanting to replace the single large boiler with two or three smaller boilers that will be more efficient.
The engineering inspection was scheduled for last week, and the county commissioners chose to table the issue until there were accurate numbers on the project.
They suggested Mock come back before the commission this week with more specific information, saying “we are inclined to help, but want more accurate estimates” on the project.
