This past weekend's Buffalo Senior Center Father's Day Chili Cookoff drew some good numbers, not only in types of chili entered, but in those that showed up to sample them and vote for their favorite.
Five different chili recipes were entered in the contest.
Sally Frost, Assistant Director at the senior center, tells us more about the event.
First place in the cookoff went to Tom Smith with his “Tombstone Chili.”
Second place went to Betsy Moore with a more “traditional” chili recipe and third place went to Mike Link with his green chili recipe.
The prizes were $25 for first, $15 for second and $10 for third.
The cookoff happened Saturday at Washington Park in Buffalo, and was a fundraiser for the senior center.
This was the second year for the chili cookoff, and it continues to grow every year, according to Frost, who said there are already plans for a cookoff next year, so perfect your favorite chili recipe, and be sure to enter it in next year's contest, which is tentatively penciled in for the Saturday before Father's Day in 2015.
