Senator Enzi: States Need Flexibility Over Education Requirements

The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee is considering the Strengthening America's Schools Act of 2013, which would reform aspects of the law known as “No Child Left Behind.” U.S. Senator Mike Enzi introduced an amendment aimed at giving states more control over their education performance standards.

Enzi added that his amendment would maintain state and local control in developing and implementing academic standards, academic assessments, and accountability systems for schools.
