The closing of national parks due to the Government shutdown is certainly drawing ire from the public. U.S. Senator Mike Enzi of Wyoming called for approval of a bill Wednesday to reopen the country's national parks. Senator Enzi highlighted the important role parks play in our local communities and said parks generating revenue should be allowed to operate even during a government shutdown.
Enzi’s request for a vote on legislation to reopen and fund national parks was blocked by the Senate majority. A similar motion by Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky was also blocked by the Senate majority.
