U.S. Senator Mike Enzi spoke out Thursday against the nomination of John Brennan as CIA Director, citing issues with Brennan’s views on drones and a lack of transparency.
Though the Senate confirmed Brennan with a vote of 63 to 34, Enzi says he took issue with a poor response from the Obama administration about whether American citizens, while on American soil, could be the target of a drone strike.
Enzi praised Senator Rand Paul for his 12-hour filibuster during the confirmation of Brennan and said it was because of his courage to stand up to the administration and get an answer about drones on American soil.
