U.S. Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming spoke on the floor of the Senate Friday and shared his concerns about what he calls the fast approaching fiscal cliff. Barrasso says governmental bodies need to make some significant changes before January 1 to avert financial disaster.
Also a practicing orthopedic surgeon based in Casper, Barrasso says some Wyomingites he's talked to have raised concerns about post-election America.
President Barack Obama recently introduced a proposal to raise taxes on households making more than $200,000 a year. Barrasso says there's no way that could generate enough revenue for the federal government to operate at it's current level.
A group from George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs, called Face the Facts USA, reported that in 2011, the United States racked up the equivalent of over $41,000 in debt - every second of every day.
