U.S. Senator John Barrasso spoke on the floor of the House on Thursday about his opposition to President Obama's nomination of Gina McCarthy as head of the Environmental Protection Agency. He points to this example, reading from some of McCarthy's past remarks.
Barrasso says other elected officials have raised their own concerns about the lack of transparency within the EPA itself.
During a press conference following her confirmation hearing, President Obama said McCarthy would be making sure we’re investing in American energy and that we’re doing everything we can to combat the threat of climate change.
Barrasso encouraged his colleagues on the floor to oppose her nomination as head of the EPA and they're set to debate this issue today. You can view a video of his remarks here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x....
Ultimately, the Senate confirmed McCarthy in a vote of 59-40.
