SCSD#2 Among Best In PAWS Scoring

The Proficiency Assessments for Wyoming Students (PAWS) test scores released earlier this week indicate Sheridan's public school system is one of the best in the state. School District #2's superintendent, Craig Dougherty, tells why.

Math scores at the elementary grade levels were in the upper 90th percentile.

Meanwhile, the Associated Press reports a study out of Harvard University has found Wyoming increased spending on public schools by more than any other state except New York in the last 20 years. However, Wyoming ranks 24th out of the 41 states studied on a national assessment. The lowest reported scores in the Sheridan County School District were in science at the high school level, where proficiency levels rated in the mid-50 percentiles.
