The Sheridan County School District No. 2 Board of Trustees heard presentations from three principals Monday evening at their monthly board meeting, concerning the culture and academic performance of District Two secondary schools.

District 2 Assistant Superintendent Terry Burgess says he focuses on the schools from a data standpoint, and they continue to improve and impress each year.

Those principals, Dirleen Wheeler at Sheridan High School, Lareen Rahimi at Fort Mackenzie and the Wright Place, and Mitch Craft at Sheridan Junior High School each took turns giving short presentations to the board, mainly about how the culture of their school is used to attain things like high test scores. Look for stories later today and this week for with more detailed reports from each of those schools.

Also at the meeting, the board rejected a bid to purchase 126 more iPads for schools across the district. District IT director Coree Kelly said he is looking into options for a seller with a lower price for the iPads.

Sheridan High School's Janine Goodrich was also recognized for her work at SHS and with state department of education. Goodrich works with the Freshman Learning Program - one strategy SHS is using to get freshmen students on track to graduate as soon as they enter SHS.
