Sports Done Right
Also at Tuesday's meeting, as follow-up to the adoption of Sports Done Right principles in October, Kobza says that they wanted to review current coaching evaluation policy that had been put into policy in 2008.
Sports Done Right principles were approved to be put into school handbooks at the trustees October meeting. Coaching evaluation and Sports Done Right were developed in 2008 but not adopted as board policy until this year. In October, the board said coaching evaluations would be the next step in completing the policy adoption.
The principles were developed after work between teachers, coaches, parents and administrators. Principles include guidelines on philosophy, values and sportsmanship; sports and learning; parents and community; the quality of coaching; health and fitness; and leadership policy and organization. Each section has a core principle, proper practices, and out of bounds areas. These are included for each the student-athlete, coach and parent.
