The Sheridan County School District Two Board authorized the purchase and installation of video surveillance equipment at the Monday night meeting. Sheridan Media's Chris Foy has more.

At their Monday meeting, the SCSD 2 Board of Trustees unanimously authorized payment of nearly $49,000 to Casper-based Elder Equipment for the purchase and installation of video surveillance systems for the district's buses.

Steve Schlicting with the district's transportation department presented the lowest qualifying bid and said Elder Equipment will travel to Sheridan to install the surveillance systems. The equipment includes a four-channel DVR, three cameras and a 320 GB hard drive.

Chairman of the board, Scott Hininger, says this move was a long time coming and has been a common topic of discussion amongst bus drivers as it can help address many issues.

At this point, Schlicting says it's looking like the system will be in operation prior to school starting again in the fall.
