Airport Gets Construction Grant Following FAA Shutdown

A Federal Aviation Administration shutdown in July forced the Sheridan County Airport to wait on an grant that would allow them to renovate their taxiway, but airport Manager John Stopka said Friday that they received that grant this week, and now they will be able to start the project in September.

Buffalo City Works Crews Busy With Various Projects

The dip in the intersection of North Adams Avenue and West Lott Street is in the process of being removed and curb and gutter will be added as well, according to Buffalo City Works Director Les Hook, who updated the city council at last week's meeting on a number of projects being handled by his department.

Fires have spread resources thin across Wyoming and Montana, after lightning caused multiple fires throughout the week. Warm temperatures and low humidities have created dangerous fire conditions for these areas.

Eight wildfires were reported in the northern Big Horn National Forest after thunderstorms brought lightning across the area Thursday. Largest of these, the West Pass fire is about 15-acres in size.

The Sheridan County Fairgrounds received some good news this week as the National Park Service has formally listed the Fairgrounds Historic District on the National Register for Historic Places.
