School District 2 Will Cut The Ribbon on Woodland Park Next Week

Last month the Sheridan County School District Two Board of Trustees heard school improvement plans for all of the Last month the Sheridan County School District 2 Board of Trustees heard school improvement plans for all of the District's elementary schools. Monday night Trustees received improvement plans from principals from Sheridan High School, Sheridan Junior High, Fort Mackenzie and The Wright Place.

Assistant Superintendent Tom Sachse also updated the board on the status of $1.8 million in Stimulus Funding that the District will receive. Sachse said that once the District's proposal for the money is accepted, they will have until the end of September of 2011 to use it. Sachse indicated that the District will submit their proposal in November, and that they anticipate it being accepted by some time in early January of 2010.

Superintendent Craig Dougherty announced that Woodland Park Elementary School is complete. Students' first day in the new school will be Tuesday, October 13th. Dougherty says that making Woodland Park a reality was a combined effort.

Prior to the first day of school next Tuesday, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday, October 12th at 5 pm, followed by a barbecue and tours of the facility at 6 o'clock.
