Sheridan County School District 1 trustees rejected bids for construction of a new Tongue River Elementary School.
District Superintendent Marty Kobza said the bids significantly exceeded the amount allocated by Wyoming's School Facilities Commission for the project. Action came at Tuesday's meeting in Ranchester.
The commission set aside a little over $12 million for the new school. Four bids were submitted, and all four came in at over $15 million. The school superintendent said the project will be rebid sometime between November and January.
In other action, trustees voted to renew the lease with Tongue River Child's Place at the existing rate of $1 per year. The facility provides preschool and before and after school programs for the Ranchester and Dayton area. Child's Place is in a district-owned building on the existing Tongue River Elementary School campus.
Trustees re-authorized the Sheridan County School District 1 Recreation District. In other action, they voted to continue the school superintendent's compensation package at the current level.
