Along with a reception for Big Horn retiring teachers DeDee Roberts and Margaret Kennedy, School District 1 trustees attended to regular business last night in the Big Horn High School music room.

Big Horn Elementary's award-winning 4th grade Destination Imagination team gave a presentation on the competition piece they're taking to the Global Competition in Knoxville, TN at the end of May. Following their presentation, the award-winning Big Horn High School Future Business Leaders of America team thanked the Trustees for their support. Their team will be headed to Nationals, currently scheduled to be held in Nashville in July.

And BHHS junior and Student Council Vice President, Callie Robinson, reported that the recent Prom and After Prom party were a great success, with a safe outcome for participating students.

Under Old Business: the move into the new Big Horn High School is still scheduled for June 10th, with a “garage sale” to be held on June 11th. Weather permitting, construction of the track will begin June 7th, with hopes of completion prior to the end of July.

In new business, Trustees approved the list of Classified Staff whose contracts were recommended for renewal for the 2010-2011 school year; they also approved a list of staff recommended for Extra Duty positions for 2010-2011.

Trustees approved the contract to hire Candace Busch, who beat out 53 other applicants for the kindergarten position vacated by DeDee Roberts.

Trustees approved the recommendation of the Interest Based Negotiations. Board Chair Suzie Dow.

Dow says that all the committee members worked well together to share the money available.

Trustees approved the Corrective Action Plans for Consolidated Grants, which cover all Federal grants – i.e. Title 1, etc.

And Trustees approved the Preliminary Budget for the next school year, with anticipated FY11 Revenues of just under $14 million and anticipated FY11 Expenditures of $13,855,326.
