All trustees were in attendance at last night's Sheridan County School District 1 board meeting in Ranchester.
Action taken included approval of Zack Cummings to replace Mick Johnson to the Sheridan County School District 1 Recreation District board. Johnson's 9-year term expires this summer.
The board approved contributing $2,500 to the DARE Program for the 2010-2011 school year.
They passed on first reading two policies – one regarding Reduction in Staff and one regarding the English Language Learners, or ELL, program.
Business Manager Jeremy Smith reported that revenues and expenditures coming in for the year are roughly where the district anticipated they would be. Smith said their financial status is “fairly healthy,” with total cash and securities of all District funds totaling just under $6.7 million.
And Superintendent Sue Belish reported that discussion is under way between Districts 1 and 2 regarding out-of-district students taking part in District 2 activities.
Belish and board chair Suzie Dow have been meeting with District 2's Superintendent Craig Dougherty and Activity Director Don Julian to work out a cost per student, per activity amount. $1,000 is an amount initially batted about, but no definitive decision has been made yet.
