Johnson County School District One’s Board of Trustees reviewed and approved a request to make a slight change to the district's calendar for the upcoming school year.
The change was necessary to accommodate a State Forensics Tournament that Buffalo High School will be hosting in the spring of 2015.
Superintendent Dr. Rod Kessler explained to the board that the original date for the tournament had been set for February 28th, but had to be moved to March to accommodate the request from the State Forensics officials.
Kessler explained further.
Buffalo High School will be hosting the next two State Forensics Tournaments in 2015 and 2016, according to Kessler, who said upwards of 5,000 people will be expected in Buffalo during each of the tournaments.
The calendar change will now head to the State Board of Education for approval, which Dr. Kessler expected them to do.
