The Sheridan Area Water Supply Joint Powers Board recently approved a resolution supporting the City of Sheridan giving notice to the EPA of their intent to prepare a Watershed Control Plan for the area above the Big Goose Water Treatment Plant. SAWS Administrator Rod Liesinger explains how the Watershed Control Plan will be a benefit even though it won't change the status of the government mandated upgrades to the Sheridan and Big Goose Water Treatment plants in safeguarding against cryptosporidium and giardia.

The crypto upgrades need to be in place at both water treatment plants by October of 2013. Since the letter of intent to implement a Watershed Control Plan must be submitted to the EPA at least two years prior to the applicable compliance date, the deadline to notify the EPA is October 1st of this year.
