The Sheridan Area Water Supply Joint Powers Board received an update from City and County staff pertaining to the Capital Improvement Program for the upcoming fiscal year. Three major projects were outlined and discussed by staff and the Board.
They include a booster station replacement, the Big Goose Water Treatment Plant Clearwell enlargement project, and conventional upgrades to the Big Goose Water Treatment Plant and Sheridan Water Treatment Plant that include the cryptosporidium upgrades mandated by the EPA. The biggest project of the three is the conventional upgrades to the treatment plants, as the estimated total project cost is $7 million.
SAWS Administrator Rod Liesinger explains that they are looking for funding sources to help with the cost of the project.
The cryptosporidium upgrades to both treatment plants need to be completed by 2013.
