At their meeting Wednesday, the Sheridan Area Water Supply Board heard an update on current projects - including upgrades to the Sheridan Water and Big Goose Treatment Plants.
SAWS Project Manager Dan Coughlin says there was a hiccup in the upgrades at the booster stations due to a new requirement from the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). The requirement would force the SAWS board to install alternate power sources at each one of the booster stations - but Coughlin says it cannot be done without breaking the bank.
As Coughlin explains, the SAWS board will be seeking a waiver from the requirement because of its massive cost.
The members of the joint powers board were supportive of the waiver and say it's just a minor speed bump in the upgrade process - and that it's one that can be overcome.
