SAWS Approves Budget and Rate Increase

The Sheridan Area Water Supply Joint Powers Board approved a $1.9 million budget at a special meeting Monday morning. SAWS Administrator Rod Liesinger says that they are projecting a surplus of over $300,000, a good portion of which will go toward the depreciation sinking fund.

After months of working with Stepwise Consultants to develop a long term plan on how to increase the reserve fund, the JPB approved a 2% rate increase.

Liesinger said that Stepwise has indicated that the rate increase will allow for approximately $7 million to be in the reserve account by the year 2020.
