Saturday's 'Shots Fired' Incident Explained: Subject to Appear in Court Today

We told you this weekend about an incident that took place around 6:41 p.m. Saturday involving shots fired on East Burkitt Street in Sheridan. Lieutenant Chris Dahmke with the Sheridan Police Department explains what happened.

Lt. Dahmke says the subject was identified as 34 year-old Sheridan resident Sean O'Leary. He has been charged with a felony count of aggravated battery, and two separate misdemeanors - reckless endangering and battery.

Law enforcement found O'Leary with a semi-automatic handgun that had been fired between 10 and 12 times during the incident, according to Dahmke's recollection of witness accounts.

Dahmke says there were no injuries, either to the subject or the officers on scene. He explains the increased police presence was for the public's safety.

O'Leary's appearance in Sheridan County Circuit Court is scheduled for 2 p.m. this afternoon.
