Sarpy Complex 85% Contained, Crews Step Down

Red Flag Warnings have continued in southeastern Montana while firefighters keep a handle on the Sarpy Hills Fire complex.

The fires did not grow in size, and more than 200 personnel were demobilized, as the fire is 85 percent contained at 82,000 acres.

An equipment fire, formally named the Torske fire, burned 180 acres in about 15 minutes, four miles southwest of Hardin. Crow helicopters left the Sarpy Hills Complex to extinguish the new blaze within 15 minutes, and none of the numerous structures threatened by the fires were lost.
