The office of the Salvation Army in Sheridan was notified Thursday of an email scam asking for help in the relief efforts in Japan. Captain David Leonard explains the scam.
Leonard says that whomever is responsible for the scam has done their homework on making the email look legit.
Captain Leonard said that if people want to donate to the Salvation Army relief effort locally, they can send a check to the Sheridan office with the words Japan earthquake relief somewhere on the check. Leonard pointed out that 100% of donations received locally will go toward the Salvation Army's relief effort in Japan.
