Sheridan's community art guild, SAGE, is hosting two shows this month. Four Sheridan County artists are featured in “Retrospective/New Prospective,” a show that brings two legendary local artists together with two relative newcomers to Sheridan's art community. The show begins Saturday and will run through Jan. 11. An artists' reception will be 5 until 7 next Friday (Dec. 6). Show and reception are both open to the public. Both are in the Sagebrush Art Center, the old historic train depot at 201 E. Fifth Street.
Also starting next week – on Dec. 2 – is the annual SAGE Members Winter Show. That show is in the SAGE Exhibit Gallery, in Sheridan College's location at 171 N. Main Street in downtown Sheridan. The show will be up through Dec. 30, and is open to the public. An artists' reception will be 5:30 until 7 on Dec. 12. That show and reception are also open to the public.
The “Retrospective/New Prospective” show features early and recent work by sculptor Bunny Connell and landscape and animal painter Alice Fuller as the “retrospective” part of the show. Both artists have been members of SAGE since the organization was founded 40 years ago. The new side of the show are Mough Niedringhaus and Dr. Charlie Walter, who have painted with Fuller in her Dayton studio.
The project is supported in part by a grant from the Wyoming Arts Council, through funding from the Wyoming State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.
