Sheridan College President Paul Young announced Monday his approval of the Sheridan College Alumni Committee’s recommendation of Ryan Mulholland as the 2012-2013 Sheridan College Distinguished Alumn.
Ron Krikac nominated Mulholland and said in a media release provided by Sheridan College that he's known and admired Mulholland for sixteen years, during the time he taught him in several college courses. Krikac said his admiration grew as he coached his work with the Speech and Debate Team and watched him grow from a college freshman to a successful businessman and outstanding community leader.
Mulholland enrolled at Sheridan College in 1997 and Krikac said he became one of the most successful competitors on the Sheridan College Speech and Debate Team. He went on to found the Ptolemy Group, and he currently serves as CEO of the data processing group.
In 2009, Mulholland was elected to the Sheridan City Council serving Ward One through last December. He's focused on in promoting economic development and job creation in the city while serving on the Travel and Tourism Board, the Recreation District Board, and briefly on the “Forward Sheridan” Board. Just this spring Mulholland began serving on the board of the North Main Association.
Sheridan Mayor Dave Kinsey said in the media release that Mulholland is an example of educational opportunities bestowed by Sheridan College. He said his public speaking, logic - and critical reasoning skills, honed at Sheridan College - have served this community well.
