The Sheridan County Airport is in the middle of runway construction, but great care is being taken to prevent disruption of air traffic.
The runway being re-paved runs parallel to the main runway. Airport manager, John Stopka, said the airport is still functional, but planes taking off do start their journey a little differently.
“Back taxi” means planes have to go all the way to the end of the main runway and then turn around 180 degrees before takeoff. Stopka said a small portion of the project involves re-paving the intersection with the new runway.
