The Bighorn National Forest provides many opportunities for winter recreation, as it's become a mecca for snowmobiling, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Forest officials want to remind people that there are some important rules and tips that can help keep you safe and out of harms way this winter. Bighorn National Forest Public Affairs Specialist Susie Douglas.
Douglas said that Wyoming law requires that all snowmobiles must have either a current Wyoming resident or non-resident user fee decal prominently displayed on the outside of each snowmobile. The decal is $25 and can be purchased at many locations throughout the state.
Douglas says that staying safe on the forest during winter is all about common sense.
Douglas added that since poor visibility and bad weather can create hazardous conditions on the forest, it's always good to check the weather forecast before making the trip to the forest.
