The three-day Memorial Day Weekend Buffalo Lion's Club Lake DeSmet Fishing Derby wrapped up on Monday, and was a big success again in this, it's 30th year, according to Lion's Club Chairman Keith Neustel.
Neustel said there were more participants this year
Only one tagged fish was caught during the derby, a $200 fish caught by Corey Morales from Gillette. Two other tagged fish were caught before the official beginning of the derby and were not eligible for their prize.
When asked if the annual fundraiser had raised a lot of money for the Lion's Club's beneficiaries, Neustel was hopeful but
Again, the grand prize, a Kymco UXV 500 side-by-side, was won by Christopher Pilcher of Gillette.
Next year's Lion's Club Lake DeSmet Fishing Derby, the 31st annual, will take place again over Memorial Day Weekend, May 24, 25, and 26, 2014.
