(WY News Service) -- Though Wyoming kids are some of the better ones in terms of spending time outdoors, integrating those gadgets kids are so accustomed to these days will get them into the outdoors even more, says the National Wildlife Federation.
David Mizejewski is a naturalist with NWF.
65% of Wyoming parents say they want their kids outdoors more, according to a 2011 survey, even though the average Wyoming child spends three to four hours per day outside the house.
He adds that research shows a variety of benefits from outdoor time.
Sports are obviously one way to encourage outdoor activity, but Mizejewski says it's just as beneficial to get kids outdoors and let them explore and be creative.
