The Johnson County Commissioners have announced that their public meeting to introduce the various proposals, allow input from the rest of the commission, and to gather input and comments from the public will be Tuesday, October 30th at 9am in the Commission Offices at the historic courthouse.
The first meeting between the three representatives from Sheridan and Johnson Counties and the Lake DeSmet Counties Coalition met this morning and had a “productive meeting,” according to Johnson County's representative John Gibbs.
He said the three agreed on a number of points, including one that would not be in everyone's best interest.
He explains further.
Gibbs said the representatives, himself, Sheridan County Commissioner Mike Nickel and LDCC Board Chair Dave Garber, “hashed things out enough" to bring the proposals back to their entities for their consideration and for public input on what they have proposed.
He expects the three entities to schedule public meetings to present their proposals within the next couple of days, as the three representatives would like to have another private meeting next Wednesday.
Gibbs added the representatives are trying to allow enough time for public input, input from the three entities and to give themselves time for negotiations.
He said the negotiations have been positive.
