Patton, a Republican, said that there were two deciding factors that weighed in on his decision to seek re-election.

Patton says that he'll continue to be an advocate of eduction if re-elected.

There are currently two candidates for the District 29 seat, as Republican Ryan Mulholland has also filed for the position. By statute, candidates have until close of business on May 30 to submit their application and filing fee to the Secretary of State’s Office, the County Clerk’s Office, or the Municipal Clerk’s Office, depending on the office sought.
