The bell in front of Sheridan City Hall has been surrounded by blue pennants for a couple days and Sheridan Media News Director Kurt Layher tells us where they came from and why.
Those visiting Sheridan City Hall and the Sheridan County Courthouse in the last few days may have noticed dozens of small blue flags in front of both buildings. The flags are gone now but they represent the direct care providers who work everyday of the year with clients of Rehabilitation Enterprises of North East Wyoming. Jeff Mock has been a RENEW client for more than 18 years now. He says this small recognition does not even come close to expressing the role DCP’s play in client lives.
The flags are part of a week-long celebration, orchestrated entirely by RENEW clients on their own.
Mock said they will have a few more surprises in store for the DCP’s throughout the week.
While those plans may be Top Secret, plans for future recognitions are not. Mock says they would like to make it an annual event. RENEW clients spent an entire day making all the flags by hand out of wire and construction paper. Future celebrations will use fabric or plastic flags. Tuesday night’s rain storm damaged many of the markers.
The flags are gone, but the clients at RENEW will continue to receive help, instruction, and support from direct care providers all year long.
