Sporting clay enthusiasts are invited to RENEW's 6th Annual Shootout, to be held tomorrow morning at the Sheridan Sportsman's Club off of Soldier Creek Road west of Sheridan.
RENEW President and CEO, Larry Samson, tells us about the event, of which First Interstate Bank is the official sponsor.
Registration begins Saturday morning at 8:30, followed by practice shooting at 9 o'clock and Round 1 at 10. Lunch will be served following Round 1, courtesy of Coca Cola Bottling Company West. Round 2 gets underway at Noon, and the whole Shootout finishes with an Awards Ceremony.
It's a very family-friendly environment, too, Larry assures us, and non-shooters are welcome to come watch the competition.
Cost for the Shootout and lunch is $60. Practice traps cost $5 for a practice round; if participants need them, boxes of shells will be available for $7.
Proceeds will benefit one or more of the many programs and projects RENEW runs. Samson says the definite designation(s) will be determined after they count the total amount raised from the fundraiser.

1. Before you leave your car, make sure the action of your shotgun is open and unloaded (except break open guns, which can be closed when placed in a rack).
2. Be aware of where your shotgun is pointed at all times, and unless firing, make sure your finger is off the trigger. Once at the shooting station, load only one shell at a time. Keep the action open until it is your turn to shoot.
3. Ear plugs and glasses (sunglasses, prescription glasses or industrial safety glasses) are mandatory. The Sportsman's Club has ear plugs (just ask) and they have some safety glasses for those without prescription or sunglasses.
