Cancer affects everyone and Friday night, in an effort to fight back against cancer, Sheridan's Relay for Life was held at Kendrick Park.
An organized community fundraising event, 20 teams camped out overnight, while team members walked the park loop throughout the night holding true to the pledges they received to walk.
Community Relations Manager for the American Cancer Society, Nicole Marron, told us what this year's theme is.
Kaylyn and Korrie Dygon lost their dad, Eric, to cancer two years ago. They believe in Relay for Life, knowing through the research and support, it gave them two extra years to be with their dad.
Fourteen year-old Kaylyn said nobody can replace him.
Korrie echoed her sister's sentiments.
Funds raised go towards cancer research, education, advocacy, programs and services with 90% of those funds staying home. Last year, $45,000 was raised and hopes are for $50,000 this year.
