According to U.S. Chamber of Commerce statistics, veterans are more likely to be unemployed than someone who never served in the military.
Common assumptions are that service-connected emotional or physical disabilities preclude veterans' employment, but data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows whether or not a veteran has a disability doesn't influence the likelihood of their joblessness very much. Employer support specialist with the Department of Defense, Dean Welch, explains one of the obstacles veterans face on a job hunt.
An upcoming job fair seeks to bridge the gap between veterans and potential civilian employers. Initially started by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, “Hero to Hired” program is looking for employers from around the state to meet potential hirees in Casper next month.
